BECOME… Surrendered

Hi, I'm Morgan and I like being in control. I am an organization freak and I love to plan ahead. I've been called Type-A and OCD on occasion. These characteristics have served me well in my life, especially in the workplace. The problem is that there are a lot of areas in my life that are unpredictable and out of my control. I realized that the more I was striving to maintain control, the more stressed and anxious I felt.

At the beginning of the year, I felt like the Lord was pushing me to relinquish my control and instead surrender to him. He reminded me that he's a God of peace and because he's in control, I'm free to trust him rather than stress out. Becoming surrendered isn't passive. It's not an excuse to throw my hands up and say, "Well God's handling it so I'll just sit back and wait." It's actively seeking his will above my own and trusting him even when I'm fearful or don't understand. Becoming surrendered means that I am willing to lay down my life, my desires, and my dreams and allow the Lord to transform them to be in line with his purpose for me.

Being a part of the BECOME Network has allowed me to do just that. It's given me a vision that is bigger than myself. It's pushed me out of my comfort zone to share my faith with others even when I don't feel like it. It's provided a community of fellow believers who remind me that God is good, trustworthy, and faithful. Ultimately, it's reminded me that life isn't about me, it's all about Jesus. When I live in a place of surrender to the Lord, I am filled with peace instead of anxiety and hope instead of fear.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. – Romans 8:28-30
